However anything that can produce a true solid model is editable in ViaCad except some of the newest self flagalating formats like solidpart and whatever Fusion is.

well I haven't found anything I really like. Hi all, Sorry if this has been asked before but I'm tearing my fur out trying to work out why Inkscape is doing this I create a design, it's the only thing on the page, yet whether I tell Inkscape to export the design or the design as a selection the result is the same - it places the design at the top left of a much larger image, the rest being transparent.
#EXPORT FROM INKSCAPE TO CAMBAM PC#
I think we might putting Inkscape on the laser cutter PC to see if can directly control the laser cutter instead of CorelDraw.
#EXPORT FROM INKSCAPE TO CAMBAM PDF#
If animation is your area of interest then Blender is probably the best known toy.Īs to editing meshes. Hmmm, I tried exporting a PDF from Inkscape, and when that didn’t work I tried to open in Preview and export as a PDF again, thinking maybe it would fix any issues. It also works ok with some DXF files.įor artistic image work nothing beats PhotoShop, although Corel Suite has some nice tools including a program capable of animation. Caesar, If I generate a 2.5D part in Inkscape, export as DXF and import that into Meshcam will it be difficult to process I assumed if makercam could do it, then Cambam and Meshcam coil do it also. If your wanting a 3D model for import into CamBam, you should be using STL format, as CamBam is a good, but low end CAM package and only handles meshes for 3D parts. Seems crude, but I have used it successfully. You would export your 2D DXF by first making a 2D projection of your part and then exporting the 2D projection, (Shape2DView), as a DXF. One trick is to import an image, engrave op it impoirt the engrace code, and convert it to geometry. Inkscape has a trace function that will beat you to death with best guess when trying to translate images to geometry, and it will export them in SVG format.ĬamBam has an import image function that allows you to get its best guess as to lines. Sometimes I import images and trace them using line, arc, and spline tools. I use ViaCAD for most DXF and some other vector formats.

It really depends on what you want to do.
